Comments Off on Why add lime to soil?
If your garden looks pale and has dead patches or if the grass blades are yellowing and if you don’t see any fungus, insects or grubs then you should think of adding lime.
The best soil for your lawn is with neutral pH. pH is the quantity of hydrogen ions present. This usually determines the nutrients available to plants which tends to become acidic over time. The best way is to test your soil by using the pH testing kit from your local nursery.

Unfortunately, Mother Nature, sometimes has different plans than we do. When it is raining, snowing, or freezing we may not have our pulverized or regular topsoil available. We blend and store our Soil+ topsoil under cover in our yard and can deliver that material at any time. We can also deliver our mulch, gravel and sand in any weather condition. We do understand however, that you may not want the material in inclement weather. If this is the case, please just give us a call at least one hour before your scheduled delivery time and we would be happy to reschedule your delivery. Remember, that since we serve a large delivery area, just because it is raining or dry at your house, the weather here in the south end of Columbus may be different.

Jones Fuel Co./ Jones Topsoil can deliver Topsoil, SoilPlus, or any of your sand, gravel, or limestone needs normally within just a few hours.
We sell three different types of topsoil. Regular (un-pulverized), is a good rich topsoil found along the Scioto River. It is normally used for filling jobs. Pulverized is the same rich topsoil, but processed through a large grinder, so the soil is loose and easy to work with. Pulverized is normally used to top dress lawns, since it is easy to spread. SoilPlus is a blend of 60% pulverized topsoil, 20% sand, and 20% Comtil, an organic compost. SoilPlus is used for flower beds and gardens!
